HyeSook Chung

HyeSook Chung is the President of The Baltimore Civic Fund. She served as a Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services where she worked to expand Medicaid, TANF, and CHIP. Prior to serving as Deputy Mayor, Ms. Chung served as the executive director of DC Action for Children, a child advocacy organization working to bring high impact outcomes to DC children. Chung has served on numerous advisory boards focused on social change and outcomes for children and families, including Annie E. Casey’s KIDS COUNT National Steering Committee, DC’s Medical Care Advisory Committee, DATAKIND, and The Smithsonian Institution’s Anacostia Community Museum. Ms. Chung has worked to improve the lives of children through direct service, program management, philanthropy, and advocacy for the past 24 years. In addition to her passion to work on behalf of children, she is a data enthusiast whose innovative vision for data work for high-impact social outcomes has been highlighted on the list of Rockefeller Foundation’s Top 100 Innovative NGO’s, UNICEF, and SXSW EDU. She received a MSW from Boston University with a concentration in non-profit management. She is a proud mother of two social activists!
