Lisa Bernstein is an education consultant specializing in literacy in high poverty communities. She currently leads the literacy effort. She co-founded the Teachers Institute in Washington, D.C., that provided citywide professional development to K-8th grade teachers in reading and writing instruction in partnership with Teacher’s College, Reading and Writing Project. Ms. Bernstein has taught/coached at elementary and middle schools throughout the D.C. area. Ms. Bernstein is a member of the Children’s National Medical Center CNAPPI board and on the Math for America DC board. Ms. Bernstein received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Simmons College, a general course degree from the London School of Economics and a Master’s degree in teaching from American University.
