Lisa Bernstein is currently the Literacy Instructional Expert at where she designs and implements ELA content for states and districts nationwide. Additionally, Ms. Bernstein facilitates the professional development of teachers and literacy leaders across grades. She co-founded the Teachers Institute in Washington, DC, that provided citywide professional development to K-8th grade teachers in reading and writing instruction in partnership with Teacher’s College, Reading and Writing Project. Ms. Bernstein has taught/coached at elementary, middle and high schools throughout the DC area and beyond, specializing in literacy in high poverty communities.  Ms. Bernstein is a member of the Children’s National Medical Center CNAPPI board, the Monument Academy Public Charter School board and the Georgetown Heritage board.  Ms. Bernstein received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Simmons College, a general course degree from the London School of Economics and a master’s degree in teaching from American University.
