Stefanie Sanford serves as Chief of Global Policy & External Relations for the College Board.  Stefanie works to expand access to higher education, building support for the College Board’s mission with policymakers, partner organizations, and the public. She leads the Washington Office and directs Policy, Government Relations, and Communications & Marketing.  “The College Board is able to ease the path to college for students across the country,” she says. “I don’t know of any other education organization that can help so many students on such a large scale.” Since joining the College Board in 2012, Stefanie has helped grow Advanced Placement across the country, saving students millions of dollars in college credit. She and her team advocate for simplified financial aid, greater diversity, equity and opportunity in higher education, and wider access to the SAT for students of all backgrounds.  Stefanie came to the College Board following a decade of work with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, one of the world’s largest philanthropies. Her experience working with policymakers on both sides of the aisle has made her an effective voice for strengthening American education. She is a member of the board of America’s Promise Alliance, a trustee of the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, and the author of Civic Life in the Information Age: Politics, Technology, and Generation X. A native Texan, Stefanie graduated from Texas Christian University before earning an MPA from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. She is married to David Moore, a retired fighter pilot and Shakespeare enthusiast.
